Don Schinske is the Advocacy Director and Chief Financial Officer for Cal Capitol Group. Known for versatility and experience in healthcare policy, advocacy, non-profit leadership, and media, Don currently works in nonprofit consulting and management as well as lobbying.
Don is currently the Executive Director and lobbyist for the Structural Engineers Association of California (SEAOC), the professional association for the 3,000 engineers who practice structural engineering in California. The 80-year-old organization is a world leader in the development and analysis of seismic provisions in model and state building codes, and Don’s work for the organization includes publications, financial management and government advocacy. Don also serves as Executive Director of the California Healthcare Interpreting Association (CHIA), a statewide nonprofit organization working to overcome language and cultural delivery in the delivery of healthcare.
A registered lobbyist, Don has worked on behalf of several healthcare provider organizations and social services clients, and has overseen successful fundraising efforts for nonprofit clinics. Don is a former newspaper publisher and editor, with wide experience in media and media relations.
Don has a masters’ degree in journalism from UC Berkeley and undergraduate degrees in economics and English from Claremont Men’s (now McKenna) College.
